HOW WE WORK

WHO

Dallas County Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, Christian housing ministry seeking to make decent housing a matter of conscience and action.

Our affiliate is all volunteer, no paid employees.  All donated funds go to construction and operations.

WHERE

We are based in Buffalo, Missouri, the county seat of Dallas County.

WHEN

Our Board of Directors meet the third Tuesday of each month, 6 PM.  Meetings are held at our office, 622 N. Maple Street, Buffalo, MO.

Our meetings are open to the public and we encourage visitors to attend.  Call or email if you would like more information.

WHAT

Habitat for Humanity is not a charity or a give-away program.  We build modest and efficient homes with donations and mostly volunteer labor to keep costs low.

Families in need who have applied for HOMEOWNERSHIP and have been selected by our Family Selection Committee join with our volunteers and become a Partner Family.

The Partner families invest several hundred work hours alongside our volunteers in the home building process.  We call this Sweat-Equity

The partner families pay closing costs, and a monthly, no-interest mortgage payment.  The mortgage payments go into a revolving fund that help build homes for other families.

When time and funds allow, we also help other low-income homeowners with repairs and improvement that they cannot afford alone.  These are called SPECIAL PROJECTS.
