Most of us know Julia Horinek through the time, energy, and heart she has shared with our Habitat volunteer group. Since joining us in 2021, Julia has served as Vice President of the board and has continued to help through the Family Selection Committee. She has been a steady, thoughtful volunteer despite her hectic schedule. We are so proud to celebrate an exciting new chapter in her life.
The Road to Healthcare
Julia’s path into healthcare began after high school when she started studying Radiography at Southwest Baptist University. While she was in X-ray school, she worked as a Patient Care Associate in Float Pool, gaining a wide range of experience caring for patients in different areas of the hospital. After completing her training, she began working as an X-ray technologist in Inpatient Radiology.
In May 2024, Julia earned her Associate of Science in Radiography. She then transferred to Missouri State University and graduated in 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Radiography. Her hard work has already opened the door to another big step: Julia was recently accepted into MSU’s two-year Physician Assistant (PA) Studies program, which she will begin in January 2027.
What’s Next?
Julia’s interest in becoming a PA grew as she worked alongside healthcare professionals and shadowed Physician Assistants in family medicine, emergency medicine, and interventional radiology. She is especially drawn to rural family medicine and interventional radiology, but she is looking forward to exploring many other areas of medicine during her clinical rotations.
Best Wishes!
Those of us who know Julia through Habitat have already seen her kindness and commitment in action. We are proud of the work she has done with us, inspired by the hard work she is putting into her future, and excited to cheer her on as she prepares to serve others in a new way.
